Analysis of 5* UL-Lafayette/Troy ‘OVER’ 155 1/2:
It’s no wonder UL-Lafayette is 23-4. The Ragin’ Cajuns can really score. This team averages 84.8 points per game and recently 89.5 in their last five games eclipsing the 100-point plateau twice in three games since February 10th. Three games ago at Georgia Southern the Cajuns had a 50-point first half followed by a 52-point second half. That is just unheard of. They also allowed the Eagles 53 points in the second half. Talk about run and gun. Paul Westphal would love these guys. Troy recently had a three-game homestand in which they reached 80, 89, and 82 points and what I like the most is two of them were blowouts indicating they did not slow down the pace or the scoring. Last February Troy went to UL Lafayette and won 100-88. That game featured a 107-POINT SECOND HALF! Let’s take a look at the two teams. The Ragin’ Cajuns have four double-digit scorers, three of which are seniors and five guys that average 9.7 or more per game (all seniors and juniors). Troy has two starters that average 17.9 and 17.5 points apiece. i think there’s a very good chance one of these teams will surpass the 90-point barrier tonight and each team I sense should be in the 80’s. Troy is a vastly different team at home in terms of production scoring 80 or more in their last four here. With the conference tournament within two weeks I don’t anticipate much defense tonight. The ‘OVER’ is 6-1 in Troy’s last seven Thursday games and 6-2-1 ‘OVER’ in their last nine at home. I will pound the OVER’ tonight as a 5* BEST BET.
